IMBERThe Integrated Marine Biogeochemistry and Ecosystem Research (IMBER) project is soliciting nominations for membership of its Scientific Steering Committee (SSC).

The IMBER SSC is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of IMBER science and strategy.

SSC member to get EGU award

2014 sherilyn c. fritzThe European Geosciences Union has announced that PAGES SSC member, Sherilyn Fritz, will receive the 2014 Hans Oeschger Medal in recognition of her outstanding contribution in reconstructing and understanding past periods of drought in North America, past hydrological changes in tropical and mid-latitude regions from lake sediments, and for her thorough approach to deciphering natural climate impact from human-induced landscape changes.

Sheri will give a lecture and accept the award at the upcoming EGU General Assembly 2014 in Vienna from 27 Apr - 2 May.

GEOTRACES' electronic atlas

geotraces-140115 worldmap lGEOTRACES, an international programme aiming to increase understanding of biogeochemical cycles and the large-scale distribution of trace elements and their isotopes in the marine environment, will release its first public data product at the 2014 Ocean Sciences Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii on the 25th February 2014. 

This intermediate data product will feature a public on-line database and a set of visual components (on-line interactive maps and 3D animations of GEOTRACES sections).

This committee will enable high-level engagement with Future Earth's stakeholders including policy-makers, business and civil society and provide leadership and creative thinking on how to bridge the gap between knowledge and solutions for sustainable development.
