GEOTRACES, an international programme aiming to increase understanding of biogeochemical cycles and the large-scale distribution of trace elements and their isotopes in the marine environment, will release its first public data product at the 2014 Ocean Sciences Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii on the 25th February 2014.
This intermediate data product will feature a public on-line database and a set of visual components (on-line interactive maps and 3D animations of GEOTRACES sections).

The new ten-year research initiative, Future Earth, is seeking nominations for its inaugural Engagement Committee.
This committee will enable high-level engagement with Future Earth's stakeholders including policy-makers, business and civil society and provide leadership and creative thinking on how to bridge the gap between knowledge and solutions for sustainable development.
