Nick McKay, from Northern Arizona University, USA, will present "2k Network data stewardship".
Description
Data stewardship, the hard work of collecting, describing, formatting, annotating and archiving data for reuse, has been a major component of the 2k Network since its inception. PAGES working groups, especially in the 2k Network, have been leaders in the paleogeosciences in promoting and developing both the culture and infrastructure of community-led data curation, leading to major scientific advances.
In this presentation, Nick describes how the PAGES 2k Network and other projects have curated data, and how that effort contributed to large scale data analysis and scientific discovery. He will also describe emerging tools built around the Linked PaleoData framework, and how those tools are contributing to 2k Network science objectives. Finally, Nick will discuss 2k Network data stewardship moving forward.
