This first meeting of the Varves Working Group was planned as an overview workshop with the following objectives:
- Review what has been accomplished during the last 10 years (new methodological developments, improvement of records calibration, inventory of varve records)
- Establish the foundations and structures of the Working Group
- Refine the objectives and define final products of the Working Group
