Postdoctoral Position, Paleoclimatology/Geoinformatics - Palisades, NY, USA

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University, USA, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in paleoclimatology and geoinformatics.


The position will be located at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY in the research groups of Bärbel Hönisch and Vicki Ferrini. Appointment will be for one year, with continuation pending funding and progress.


The successful candidate will work on a project to process and analyze paleo-pCO2 data and develop an associated website.


- The minimum qualification for this position is a PhD in paleoclimatology or related field.
- Candidates with experience in handling and processing large data sets and proficiency in using Matlab, Python and ArcGIS will be preferred.
- The ideal candidate enjoys working in a team and is able to effectively communicate the results of their research activities both orally and in writing.
- Established ability to conduct original, independent scientific research is preferred.
