The University of Iowa's Geographical and Sustainability Sciences department offers both M.A. and Ph.D. programs and provides leading-edge educational and research experiences for professional and research-oriented graduate studies in GIScience, environmental change, health and society, and international development. Students in our graduate program also have the opportunity to work closely with centers and researchers across the UI campus, including the Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research (CGRER), IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering, and the Iowa Geological Survey.

Description

This position will focus on tree-ring science and climate reconstruction to answer questions concerning frequency, severity, and drivers of droughts and floods in the Lower Missouri River Basin. The position includes opportunities for both field and lab research in dendrochronology, as well as opportunities to collaborate with project scientists at University of North Carolina, University of Arizona, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, and the U.S. Geological Survey. The position will provide academic-year salary, conference travel funding, publication costs, and full tuition remission.
