Propose a new working group

PAGES' working groups (WG) are temporary organizations that target specific aspects of PAGES’ scientific agenda by running activities that result in synthesis products. WGs tackle broad questions that cannot be answered by a single research team, but require the integration of a wider international science community.

WGs benefit from their affiliation with PAGES in a number of direct and indirect ways. PAGES WGs receive enhanced visibility, connection with a diverse range of scientific expertise, priority consideration for financial support for workshops, validation in the eyes of the community, access to the international PAGES network, wide dissemination of news and results through print and online publications, and potential strengthening of outside funding proposals.

Now is an opportune time to develop new WGs. WGs under the Human and Environment sectors of the new science structure are particularly encouraged.

Given our associations with Future Earth and WCRP, WGs that contribute to or are co-organized by these programs or their components could also be considered.

Proposals are due by 10 October 2016 in time for consideration at our Executive Committee meetings on 9 and 16 November.

More about our working groups, the guidelines and the application form are available here.

You must contact a member of the PAGES Scientific Steering Committee, discussing your plans, at least two weeks before you submit the proposal. Applications received without SSC member notification will not be looked upon favorably.

You can also contact our Executive Director, our Science Officer for information.

If you miss the deadline this time, keep in mind that PAGES openly welcomes new WG proposals at any time from interested members of the community, so contact us to discuss your idea, which will then be considered at the next EXCOM or SSC meeting in 2017.
