Salary: ~20,000-22,000 Euro/year (65% TV-L E13 position)
The Job:
• Produce a PhD thesis on the topic „Geochemical Signals in Subarctic Quaternary Sediments - Environmental Conditions, Diagenesis, and Submarine Weathering“
• Integrate your work into the interdisciplinary, international projects DEHEAT (Natural analogues and system-scale modeling of marine enhanced silicate weathering) and CANOE (Climate chANge impacts on carbon cycling and fOod wEbs in Arctic fjords), led by Profs. Meysman, Arndt und van de Velde (Belgium)

• Participate in sea-going expeditions to the North Atlantic (Iceland, Greenland, Norway)
• Sample and analyse (using inorganic geochemical methods) sediment and pore water samples
• Publish and present results of your research in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentations at national and international conferences

Your Profile:
• University degree (MSc or equivalent) in geology, geosciences, environmental sciences, geoecology, or similar discipline
• Interesse an interdisziplinärer, internationaler Forschung in marinen Geowissen-schaften,
• Good written and spoken English
• Technical knowledge of inorganic geochemistry (e.g., XRF, XRD, AAS, IC, ICP-OES/MS, sequential extractions) as well as sediment and pore water sampling are an advantage
