At the beginning of August 2024, the PAGES website experienced technical issues. This meant that no one was able to access the website, or access was very limited/ restricted. It also meant that there was no August 2024 newsletter. We apologize for this, and hope that it did not inconvenience you too much. The website is back up and running. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the time PAGES was offline.
In lieu of the August newsletter, PAGES would like to use this opportunity to remind the community of some important dates and upcoming deadlines in this mini memo. The next full newsletter is scheduled for 18 September.

1. Next deadline for PAGES support

2. Call to host OSM and YSM 2029
The call for Expressions of Interest (EoI) to host the OSM and YSM in 2029 is open. The deadline to send in an EoI is 18 September. > More information
3. PAGES Early-Career Award (ECA) Nominations
The call for ECA nominations is out. Please consider nominating a deserving peer or colleague for this award, which includes a certificate, public announcement at the next OSM, an invitation to speak at the next OSM, and a grant (up to USD2000) to attend the next OSM. The deadline to send in nominations is 30 September. > More information
4. Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) Shanghai 2025
The PAGES 5th Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) will be taking place from 19–20 May 2025 in Shanghai, China. Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is 1 December 2024. > Visit the website
5. Open Science Meeting (OSM) Shanghai 2025
The 7th PAGES Open Science Meeting (OSM) will be taking place from 21–24 May 2025 in Shanghai, China. Abstract submissions and registration are open. The deadline for abstract submissions is 1 December 2024. Very limited financial assistance is available to early-career researchers or scientists from low- and middle-income countries. 6. PAGES working group: Past Ocean Oxygenation (PO2)
The registration deadline for the first PO2 workshop on "Ice Sheets, Ocean Oxygenation, and the Carbon Cycle: Constraining Changes in Seawater Oxygenation during the Late Quaternary" is 12 September. The workshop will be taking place from 11–13 November in Bristol, UK, and online. > Register
7. PAGES Early-Career Network (ECN)
Deadline extended for open call for PAGES ECN Regional Representatives
The PAGES Early-Career Network (ECN) is seeking to expand its regional representation by calling for additional Regional Representatives. They are looking for independent and proactive early-career researchers (ECRs) from Southeast Asia and Oceania. They highly encourage nominations from researchers from Oceania/Australia. Interested ECRs should fill in the nomination form and send it by 30 September. Please spread the word among your networks. > Nomination form
