New VICS Working Group

VICSwithTitle

The Volcanic Impacts on Climate and Society (VICS) Working Group will provide a forum for information exchange between communities interested in the impacts of volcanic eruptions, including those involved in paleoclimate reconstruction, climate modeling, ice core interpretation, and historical climate-societal interactions.

The group aims to improve volcanic radiative forcing reconstructions and the understanding of both the volcanically-induced climate variability and societal impacts of eruptions.

New Floods Working Group

The Floods Working Group will investigate past flood events and bring together many researchers, including geologists, geographers, historians, modelers, statisticians, and hydrologists.

The group aims to coordinate and synthesize results on the natural variability of floods to aid our understanding of these destructive natural hazards and their future trends.
