This meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for researchers from across the globe to meet formally and informally, to discuss the many aspects of phytolith research, including methodology, taxonomy, taphonomy, and interpretation. Because of the broad application of phytolith analysis, this meeting also provides an opportunity for professionals in diverse fields such as archaeology, paleoecology, geography, botany, and geology to meet face-to-face for intellectual exchange.

The site of the meeting, Estes Park, Colorado, at 7522 ft. (2292 m) in elevation, is situated at the base of a spectacular portion of the Rocky Mountains with numerous 14,000 ft. (4267 m) peaks. Denver International Airport, gateway to the great American West, is located 2 hours southeast of Estes Park, at the easternmost edge of the Great Plains physiographic region. The conference meeting will be held at the Rocky Mountain Park Inn Resort, with on-site lodging available for attendees.
