The objective of the Conference is to gather all the experts in high-resolution paleoclimatic records of South America in order to gain, through the presentation of their work, a regional vision of the advancements achieved during the last years, as well as to establish collaboration norms, information management and implementation of future guidelines for the advancement of studies in the field of climatic variability in different regions of South America.

As a consequence, the Conference will gather numerous researchers, from Latin American and other countries, interested in studies regarding dendrochronology, palynology, limnology, glaciology, ice cores, and historical documents, which are aimed at the paleoenvironmental reconstruction in different regions of South America.

Also the meeting will count with climatologists working in issues related to the present climate of South America, so as to provide dynamic bases on which the environmental records of the past can be interpreted.

Abstract deadline: 8 September 2006

This was the first meeting of the LOTRED-SA Working Group.
