The 4th workshop of the MedCLIVAR project of the European Science Foundation will address climate feedbacks on present as well as past timescales.

Main Themes (1) The impact of the Mediterranean water in the Atlantic and global oceanic circulations (present and past perspectives): (2) Mediterranean Sea Atlantic basin exchange processes: pathways and dynamics of the MW in the Atlantic. (3) The influence of the Mediterranean sea on the large-scale atmospheric circulation of the Northern Hemisphere and possible feedbacks: (4) Links and feedbacks between tropical circulation (ENSO, monsoons) and the Mediterranean climate system: (5) Detecting changes in major teleconnections (spatial patterns and intensity) affecting the Mediterranean basin in the past (outlooks for future climate): (6) Moisture sources and humidity transport modes affecting the Mediterranean.

Travel funding will be available for 30 young scientists. For evaluation criteria check the meeting website by clicking on the link above.

Abstract deadline: 31 May 2009
