AGU 2016 Ocean Sciences Meeting

Location

New Orleans, USA

Meeting Category

The theme for the 2016 meeting is: Ocean Sciences at the Interface. Complex interactions occur at a variety of interfaces and on a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. These interactions are critical for understanding the world around us and implementing informed policies in a global society.

The 2016 Ocean Science Meeting will highlight processes at interfaces and how the work at such interfaces advances the study of ocean sciences and shapes the impact of our research on society.

Assessing Ecosystem Variability from Paleoceanographic Archives (ID: 9343)
Chairs: Michael Schulz and Michal Kucera, MARUM, University of Bremen, Germany

This session will be a great opportunity to showcase how paleoecological and paleobiological research can help to constrain ecological processes and benchmark variability at scales not accessible to biological observations. We invite contributions making use of fossil and sub-fossil data irrespective of organismal groups, methods, or time scales, including investigations ranging from studies of the natural magnitude of ecosystem variability, trends, changes of biogeographic range, to processes related to the extinction and emergence of species.
