International Symposium on Aeolian Deposits in Earth History

Location

Beijing, China

Meeting Category

Increasing evidence shows that extensive aeolian deposits existed in the Cenozoic and the deep past of Earth's history. The aeolian processes including dust production, transportation, and deposition are closely related to regional tectonic and glacial activity, hydrologic and atmospheric circulation, and climate conditions. The aeolian sequences are unique archives of palaeoclimates and palaeoenvironments.

Studies of aeolian deposits provide a unique opportunity to explore the interactions of geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere.

We solicit contributions on all aspects of aeolian deposits from modern time to the deep past, including
(1) modern processes,
(2) geologic records and palaeoenvironmental reconstructions, and
(3) modeling and methodology.

Researchers that focus on aeolian deposits on planets other than Earth are also welcome.

Topics
Modern aeolian processes
Aeolian deposits and palaeoenvironmental reconstructions
Modeling of aeolian processes and palaeoclimate
