This workshop will be devoted to the analysis of reconstructions and multi-model simulations of the past two millennia and will blend the PAGES2K and the PMIP3 communities. It will focus on the comparison between reconstructions (different regions of PAGES 2K as well as new or other existing evidences) and the new suite of past1000 simulations developed within PMIP3.
The comparative analyses will give a particular emphasis to the continental/regional scales, to the understanding of physical mechanisms, and to link past and future climate evolution to help constrain uncertainty in future climate projections.This will be a product oriented workshop targeting on at least one consortium paper integrating the efforts and expertise of the various groups.*** This is a semi-open workshop (expected 25-30 participants). Some researchers have been invited due to their direct connection with the focus of the meeting. Everyone else interested in attending will have to send an Expression of Interest including the info required. The organizing committee will decide among all letters of interest. The decision will be based on the relationship between the applicants area of research and the topic of the workshop, i.e., its critical that applicants are/have been working on multimodel-reconstructions comparison during the Last Millennium.

The workshop is expected to bring together around 25-30 colleagues. Some financial support has been received mainly from PAGES and other local funders. These funds are thought to emphasize the participation of early career students and scientists whose research activities are related to multimodel-data comparison in the last millennium.
If you are in this situation and would be interested in participating, please, let us know your interest and provide us with information on the points below by sending an email before August 1 to both laurafernandez@fis.ucm.es and elena.garcia@fis.ucm.es:
a) Name, and affiliation
b) Your position (in particular if you are an early career scientist, i.e. PhD student or PhD completion less than 5 years ago).
c) Why would you be interested to participate and/or contribute to the workshop (5 lines max).
d) Would you be willing to participate in any of the WGs. If so, indicate which one.
e) Would you require funding or would you be able to participate in the workshop without support for the meeting organization?
Available funds are very limited. Early scientists and scientists from developing nations will receive priority.
We will review all applications accounting for the potential contribution of the applicants to the workshop and availability of funds and inform you of the outcome before August 15.
