International Data Week (IDW) 2021 2022 runs from 8-11 November 2021 20-23 June 2022 in Seoul, South Korea. IDW 2022 will be a hybrid event, with both virtual and in-person options.
The conference title is "Data to Improve our World: The Role of Data to Address Global Challenges".
Description
IDW is a landmark event is organized by the Committee on Data (CODATA) and the World Data System (WDS) of the International Science Council (ISC), and the Research Data Alliance (RDA).
It brings together data scientists, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and data stewards from disciplines across the globe to explore how best to exploit the data revolution to improve science and society through data-driven discovery and innovation.
IDW combines the RDA Plenary Meeting, the biannual meeting of this international member organisation working to develop and support global infrastructure facilitating data sharing and reuse, and SciDataCon, the scientific conference addressing the frontiers of data in research organised by CODATA and WDS.
Hosted in Seoul, Republic of Korea, this year's IDW is centred around the sharing and integration of international data with Korean data methods, which has been coined as "K-Data." The goal of IDW is to bring together data scientists, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and data stewards from disciplines across the globe to explore how best to exploit the data revolution to improve science and society through data-driven discovery and innovation.
The 9 day conference is opportunity to experience the data, integration, and facilitation strategies that are propelling the world into the next industrial revolution.

The four days will cover the following sub-themes:
- The State of Open Science / Research Globally;
- Research Transparency, Accountability and Reproducibility;
- Data, Research and Industry: The Interface between Data-intensive Research and Innovation;
- Citizen Science;
- Empowering and Enabling Society: Data Science and Stewardship Education and Data Literacy.
