This is a workshop of the North America2k Working Group. Considering the (numerical) dominance of tree-ring data within the climate proxy data pool for North America, a core working group (NAm2K Tree-Ring Chapter€™) had been assigned the task of compiling and analyzing tree-ring-based climate reconstructions.

For this purpose, representatives from the major dendroclimatic laboratories in North America will gather to provide a complete overview of available dendroclimatic data sets. With this follow-up workshop, we aim to achieve the following goals:

(1) a North American dendroclimatic compilation, including all tree-ring based climate reconstructions covering at least the last 500 years

(2) a characterization of these dendroclimatic data in terms of seasonality, climate parameter calibration, geographic representation, power spectrum, and cross-correlation with other available data

(3) a spatiotemporal analysis of the dendroclimatic compilation, resulting in a set of maps for different climate parameters/seasons/time periods and a set of time-series for different regions

(4) an exploration of the potential to retain centennial-scale variability in tree-ring records and to combine them with lower-frequency proxy records (e.g., pollen).

This workshop is aimed at NAm2k Working Group members and those who express an interest to participate. Please contact organizers if you would like to participate.
