The 5th International Symposium on Environmental Geochemistry in the Tropical Countries 2012 is going to focus on the modern issues of environmental sustainability in the tropical countries. A subject that arises from the significant changes in the discussions of the recent years is the geochemical responses to anthropogenic activities, where the global changes acquired relevance, but also the local issues have been regarded under a wider point of view, focused on concepts of management. So, rather than just looking at the chemical behavior of pollutants, we endeavor to develop a knowledge that would reduce the health and environmental impact of these pollutants.
