The INTIMATE (INTegrating Ice core, MArine and TErrestrial records) COST action is in its final year, with the 4 active working groups (WGs) focusing on chronology, quantification, modeling, and impact of climate change over the period 60-8 ka BP. The main objective of this action is to develop common protocols and methods to reconstruct abrupt and extreme climate change across the full range of European environments in order better to understand the mechanisms and impact of change, and thereby reduce the uncertainty of future prediction.

Programme

The workshop will consist of short presentations, a poster session, and a few breakout sessions and will include a Management Committee and Evaluation meeting with working group reports Wednesday afternoon (the last day of the workshop but before the field trip).

An brief outline of the schedule is as follows:

• 15th June - Arrival

• 16th-17th June - Oral and poster presentations plus breakout sessions.

• 18th June - Oral and poster presentations (in the morning). Management Committee and Evaluation meeting with participants from COST (in the afternoon).

• 19th - 21st June - Optional field trip

Contributing participants can have part of the workshop costs covered by the COST funding. A number of travel grants for Early Stage Researchers are available for contributing participants with very limited access to other travel funds. See registration form for details.Application for travel support is integrated in the registration form, which is attached (please, send it to intimatezaragozaatgmail.com (intimatezaragoza[at]gmail[dot]com), indicating which package - A, B, C or D - you want).

The registration deadline is March 7th, 2014. Later registration will be available on a space available basis, but late workshop and travel costs funding applications will generally not be accepted.
