Professor Ian D. Rotherham and colleagues are organising a major event on the theme of ‘Peatland Landscapes, Past, Present & Future’. It will look at the history of human activity associated with peatland landscapes – heaths, moors, bogs, fens and commons; the ecology and archaeology of peatlands; the landscapes of peatlands and their neglected heritage; the conservation management of peatlands – problems and issues; and the future challenges with climate change and carbon sequestration.

The programme

The conference will bring together speakers and poster presentations from a range of disciplines, backgrounds and countries.

The first day (Wednesday) will start late morning and include a field visit in the afternoon. On the Thursday afternoon there is a poster presentation session with mini-presentations on the topics featured. There is still some space for poster presentations and displays.

The remainder of Thursday and Friday will be a mixture of plenary and parallel themed sessions. The draft programme will be available at: http://www.ukeconet.org/event/in-the-bog-conference/
