The Future Earth regional workshop for Europe, titled "Transdisciplinary research and co-design in practice", will be held 22-23 November 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Background

This year's European regional workshop offers training in transdisciplinary skills and co-design methodology. The workshop is open to all Future Earth participants in core projects, national committees, secretariats, Science & Engagement committees, and Future Earth related stakeholders located in Europe.

This workshop will discuss the concept of transdisciplinarity, provide insights from transdisciplinarity experts and training on how to co-design research with stakeholders. Learn and share your experiences on co-designed sustainability research.

Workshop goals

- Getting acquainted with the principles and approaches of transdisciplinary research and co-production of knowledge
- Learning the main steps required to prepare a stakeholder interaction plan for a research project
- In practical exercises, the participants practice and apply these main steps on their own projects.

Themes

The concept of transdisciplinarity in Future Earth
- What can it be, how can we perform transdisciplinary research? From information sharing to co-design and co-production. Engaging stakeholders in research: when, why, and how to do it? What kind of support do researchers need to conduct transdisciplinary research?

- Transdisciplinarity in practice. Methodogies, tools, where to find them. Practical training of participatory methods and co-design tools. Transdisciplinarity clinic: how to design an effective stakeholder interaction plan for your project?

Logistics

The participants are asked kindly to organize their own travel and accommodation. Participants will need to cover their own travel and subsistence expenses.
