In this two-day workshop, the PAGES Euro-Med2k working group will be focusing on compiling and evaluating different high- to low-resolution, marine and terrestrial proxy archives from the North Atlantic/European sector covering several centuries to millennia.
The primary aim is to broaden the proxy compilation towards several different lower-resolution terrestrial and marine archives and geographically expand the network towards the transition between Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including the greater Caucasus region, the Polar Ural and the Altai.
Following this workshop, the group is aiming to produce the most comprehensive paleoclimatic databank for the European/North Atlantic sector and the Mediterranean basin with additional hotspots in the Caucasus, Ural and Altai. This compilation should include temperature as well as hydroclimatic records of various resolution and length, and subsequently enable the development of two independent reconstructions of annual and lower dating precision.
