▶ Zaragoza to host 5th OSM/3rd YSM in 2017
The PAGES EXCOM and SSC are pleased to announce the 5th PAGES Open Science Meeting (OSM) and 3rd Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) will be held in Zaragoza, Spain. The proposed dates are around early to mid-May 2017.
We look forward to organizing a rewarding and memorable meeting with our hosts, the Pyrenean Institute of Ecology, Spanish National Research Council (IPE‐CSIC).
▶ PAGES 2k news
PAGES 2k special issue: A special issue of "Climate of the Past" is planned to showcase results of the 2k project. It will be open for submissions between July and Dec 2016. Contributions are welcome from 2k regional and trans-regional groups and any individual initiatives (e.g. studies based on one of the 2k databases). Send provisional titles to lucien.vongunten@pages.unibe.ch
PAGES 2k temperature reconstruction: An author group is now forming to write a paper focusing on a comparative analysis of global mean temperature time series (index) reconstructions using the new PAGES 2k proxy dataset. Contact lucien.vongunten@pages.unibe.ch with your proposed contribution.
► New volcanoes working group
We recently launched the Volcanic Impacts on Climate and Society (VICS) working group, which aims to improve volcanic radiative forcing reconstructions and the understanding of both the volcanically-induced climate variability and societal impacts of eruptions.
