Description
They are seeking a full-time permanent lectureship in the area of Climate Science. This can be observational, theoretical, and/or big data/AI, focusing on atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere and/or land. Their aim is for the successful candidate to complement our existing climate related activity, including our polar remote sensing and modelling strengths, and to interact with Department and College wide climate activities, as well as with external organisations. The successful candidate will actively lead on international research that addresses one of UCL’s Grand Challenges – Climate Crisis.
Tasks
The successful candidates will be expected to pursue research of international quality that enhances, complements and/or extends current activity in the Department of Earth Sciences, and to provide academic leadership in the development of their subject area. It is also expected that the post-holder will contribute to all aspects of the academic life of the Department and College.

The main role of the Lecturer will include the following duties:

Requirements
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and expertise in climate research, publishing new knowledge in leading international journals, and teaching undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses.

Candidates will have a personal research plan that supports and enhances the Department's research, and have evidence of an independent research programme, including successful attainment of research funding as a principal investigator.

A teaching qualification such as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy is desirable, as is evidence of having built and maintained effective collaborative relationships with operational organisations involved in climate research and/or influencing policy and having a societal impact.
