Instructions for Past Global Changes Magazine contributions


Past Global Changes Magazine (formerly PAGES news) is PAGES' main publication, a free paleoscience magazine published two to three times a year. View past issues here.

Please find instructions, guidelines and templates for contributors below. We regularly accept contributions, so if you would like to contribute to one of the sections below or if you have an idea for an issue please contact our Science Officer.

Guidelines for Authors of Science Highlights

Must be 1300-1400 words, including figure captions and must include two scientific figures. Submission must to be made using the Science Highlight Template (see the downloads section below).

The authors of Science Highlights articles benefit from a readership of several thousand active paleoscientists worldwide. Publication in Past Global Changes Magazine is not meant to replace but rather presumes publication in peer-reviewed literature. Submissions should be of interest to an interdisciplinary, international readership.

Authors are invited to have their ORCID associated with their articles. If this is applicable, please include your ORCID in your submitted manuscript.

Guidelines for authors of Workshop Reports, Opinion and Program News articles

Must be 650-700 words, including figure captions and one figure or photo strongly relevant and connected to the text. Must be a scientific figure or photo; we do not accept group photos. A logo can also be included. Submission must to be made using the Workshop Report, Opinion and Program News articles Template (see the downloads section below).

Workshop reports, due one month after the workshop's completion, should aim to report on the scientific essence of the meeting i.e. why was it held and what were the scientific achievements. See the guidelines for further information.

Authors are invited to have their ORCID associated with their articles. If this is applicable, please include your ORCID in your submitted manuscript.

Guidelines for Fellowship and Data Stewardship Scholarship Reports

Must be 650-700 words, including figure captions and one figure or photo strongly relevant and connected to the text. Must be a scientific figure or photo; we do not accept group photos. For the Fellowship Reports, a logo of the host and home institution can also be included. Submission must to be made using the corresponding Template (see the downloads section below).

Fellowship reports, due one month after the workshop's completion, should aim to report on the scientific activities carried out during the fellowship. See the guidelines for further information.

Authors are invited to have their ORCID associated with their articles. If this is applicable, please include your ORCID in your submitted manuscript.
