Applications are open for 5 ECRs to join the 3rd DEEPICE Training School in Communication.

DEEPICE is a research and training network which aims to research and train scientists on understanding Deep icE corE Proxies to Infer past antarctiC climatE dynamics. The network is funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

Through The DEEPICE program, 20 early-stage researchers (ECRs) will be trained for a career in the academic or non-academic sector to work on climate change and glaciology. They will also gain experience in communication about climate change, and, in particular, climate change affecting the polar regions.

The 3rd Training School will be taking place from 4-8 September in Leissigen, Switzerland, and aims to provide skills in a number of settings for various purposes. These include:

  • communicating science results to the general public;
  • communicating science to teachers and students;
  • communicating results to (science) journalists; and
  • communicating results to policymakers and federal offices.

Starting on Monday, 4 September, four main topics will be covered per day, until Friday, 8 September.

The school will focus on training 20 early-career researchers (ECRs). 15 ECRs will come from the DEEPICE project.

5 spaces are being opened to ECRs who are PhD students with a research topic on ice core (possibly paleoclimate or glaciology).

If you would like to apply for one of the limited spaces available, please complete the webform and then send your documents via email to the PAGES IPO.

The deadline for applications is 2 April.
