2nd Virtual workshop on paleoclimate data assimilation

The Holocene Data Assimilation team are inviting ECRs to join a free virtual workshop on paleoclimate data assimilation.

Email sent to PAGES Early-Career Network (ECN) on 21 July 2023:

The 2nd annual virtual workshop on paleoclimate data assimilation will take place online on August 21-23, 2023. This free workshop is aimed at early-career scientists who wish to better understand paleoclimate data assimilation, which is a powerful method for creating spatially complete reconstructions of past climate using proxy records and model information.

The 2.5 day workshop will consist of live talks on Zoom, interactive programming activities, and discussion with other participants over Slack. Participants will learn about proxy databases, proxy system models, and paleoclimate model simulations, as well as how these things are combined using paleoclimate data assimilation to create reconstructions of past climate. Participants should have a basic grasp of the Python programming language.
