Call for Inputs and Topic Experts: 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2024

The CALL FOR INPUTS for this year’s 10 New Insights in Climate Science is now open. Deadline 2 February, 2024.

In an email from Future Earth, dated 23 January 2024, the Call for Inputs for this year’s 10 New Insights in Climate Science has been announced. The deadline is 2 February, 2024.

"We welcome and encourage all researchers working on climate change-related topics (both natural and social sciences), to share what are key recent developments in climate change research that should be raised to the attention of policymakers and negotiators at the UNFCCC.

With this call, we also aim to identify topic experts interested in contributing as co-authors of the academic manuscript that underpins the policy report. You may recommend a topic expert, and self-nominations are welcome too. The papers corresponding to the installments for 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020 have been published in the journal Global Sustainability. Co-authors of the academic paper are also acknowledged in the policy report.

Background
The 10 New Insights in Climate Science series is a joint initiative by Future Earth, The Earth League, and the World Climate Research Programme. This annual year-in-review highlights essential advances in climate change research with high policy relevance. It has been launched every year since 2017 at the UNFCCC COP.

The policy report, and the underpinning peer-reviewed paper, are made possible by a formidable community-wide effort involving the research networks of the three partner organizations. In previous years, various National Committees and Global Research Networks from Future Earth contributed at different stages of this process.

If you have any questions or comments about this call, or the ‘10 New Insights’ process in general, please contact our colleague Daniel Ospina <daniel.ospina@futureearth.org>.

Feel free to share this within your communities."
