Celebrating 30 years of PMIP
Thursday, 18 November, 2021
The Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project (PMIP) began in the early 1990s to provide an efficient mechanism for coordinating palaeoclimate modelling activities. The key aims of the project are to:
- Understand the mechanisms of climate change
- Identify the different climatic factors that shape our environment
- Evaluate the capability of state-of-the-art models to reproduce different climates
The celebration will be taking place online, and will be a round-the-world marathon lasting for 30 hours, with your help and participation.
Dates:
Start: 2 December 2021, 09:00 UTC
End: 3 December 2021, 15:00 UTC
The schedule will soon be released, when the anniversary website is launched. Stay posted for announcements and possible requests in the next 10 days: https://pmip.lsce.ipsl.fr/events/pmip_30
Different sessions will be proposed (PMIP history and achievements, different PMIP themes, new questions ....), including both short presentations and discussions. You will all be welcome to contribute and help us to make this event a success despite the late announcement.
