1. PAGES 5th OSM and 3rd YSM
A reminder that registration and abstract submissions are now open for PAGES 5th Open Science Meeting (OSM) in Zaragoza, Spain, May 2017, and applications are open for the 3rd Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) in Morillo de Tou.

2. PAGES Town Hall at the CLIVAR Open Science Conference
The CLIVAR Open Science Conference, titled "Charting the course for climate and ocean research" will take place in Qingdao, China, from 18-25 September. PAGES will host a Town Hall on Tuesday 20 September (Session 2) from 18:00-19:00 in the Hyatt Ballroom No.3.
PAGES invites participants to discuss common questions among the paleo, present day and future climate communities with the objective to strengthen the linkages between ongoing research in WCRP and PAGES.
Interactions on the following topics are anticipated: long-term ocean variability, linkages between the hydrological cycle, climate trends and variability, the characterization and analyses of extreme events, and emerging constraints from the past that can contribute to assess the credibility of future projections.
PAGES' Executive Director Marie-France Loutre would like to (1) hear, in advance, from anyone who is attending the CLIVAR meeting; (2) call on any volunteers to give a brief talk (a few minutes, 1 slide) during the Town Hall; and (3) collect any suggestions/topics/issues related to the PAGES-WCRP partnership for discussion during the Town Hall. 3. Participate in 2016 GCOS Implementation Plan
Participate in the public review of the new 2016 Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) Implementation Plan, "The Global Observing System for Climate: Implementation Needs".
This new implementation plan aims to guide climate observations over the next 10 years, meeting the needs of the UNFCCC, adaptation planning, climate services and climate science. Following approval by the GCOS steering committee, a final version will be submitted to the UNFCCC for COP22.
Anyone interested in climate observations is invited to comment on this draft. Previous GCOS implementation plans have guided major investments in observational systems (for example satellite systems and international cooperation on ocean systems). All reviewers contributing comments will be credited in the final report.
