1. New data guidelines
PAGES has updated its data guidelines. PAGES continues to facilitate the development of community-based, data-intensive synthesis products, and promotes data stewardship within its constituency. Several widely used databases have been developed by PAGES-sponsored activities and many others are under construction. Read more: http://pastglobalchanges.org/my-pages/data/data-guidelines
2. ECR sea-level workshop announced for August 2018

4. Working Group news
i. 2k Network: a) The latest project for the next phase has launched. MULTICHRON - Constraining modeled multidecadal climate variability in the Atlantic using proxies derived from marine bivalve shells and coralline algae. iv. GPWG2: The date for the "African Fire History and Fire Ecology: Building Understanding and Capacity through Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange" workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, is confirmed for 20-22 July 2018. See Point 5 below for details.
v. LandCover6k: The group will conduct the session "Quantitative pollen-based reconstructions of plant cover for environmental and archaeological research" at the 10th European Palaeobotany & Palynology Conference in Dublin, Ireland, from 12-17 August 2018. vi. PALSEA2: The call for papers for the Quaternary Science Reviews PALSEA2 special issue, titled “PALeo constraints on SEA level rise (PALSEA): ice-sheet & sea-level responses to past climate warming” is now open. Submission deadline is 1 April 2018. This is a virtual special issue (VSI), meaning that each paper will be handled immediately and published online as soon as accepted. The International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC) will merge in 2018 to create a new organisation called International Science Council: https://www.icsu.org/current/press/worlds-leading-bodies-of-social-and-natural-sciences-to-merge-in-2018-becoming-international-science-council
ii. Following the outcomes of the 13th session of the Conference of the Parties (Decision 19/COP.13), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) invites experts to apply to become members/observers of the Science-Policy Interface (SPI), which was established in 2013 to promote dialogue between scientists and policy-makers on desertification, land degradation and drought. The public call for candidature closes 4 December 2017 at 23:59 CET. The call for members is open to scientists from all regions and organizations and all relevant disciplines and thematic areas. The call for observers is open to international organizations and United Nations organizations qualified in matters relevant to the UNCCD. iii. The Belmont Forum and BiodivERsA are pleased to announce the launch of their joint call on the following theme: Scenarios of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services II.
