1. Be involved in the IPCC AR6

PAGES' parent organization Future Earth is collating nominations for Lead Authors, Coordinating Lead Authors and Expert Reviewers for the IPCC's 6th Assessment Report (AR6) and paleoscience needs your voice.

Read the agreed chapter outlines for AR6 for:

Working Group I - The Physical Science Basis: http://www.ipcc.ch/meetings/session46/AR6_WGI_outlines_P46.pdf

Working Group II - Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability: http://www.ipcc.ch/meetings/session46/AR6_WGII_outlines_P46.pdf

Working Group III - Mitigation of Climate Change: http://www.ipcc.ch/meetings/session46/AR6_WGIII_outlines_P46.pdf

Paleoscience will not have its own chapter, but will be embedded in all chapters.

If you are willing to take a leading role in AR6 or would like to suggest colleagues that should take part in the writing of AR6, fill out the relevant Working Group nomination form(s) (below) and send, along with a CV (pdf, in English, less than four pages) to PAGES Executive Director Marie-France Loutre by 14 October 2017: marie-france.loutreatpages.unibe.ch (marie-france[dot]loutre[at]pages[dot]unibe[dot]ch)

Working Group I nomination form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9572rrs0uWJNDNVTmZHendZZlk/view

Working Group II nomination form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9572rrs0uWJUzFiYXY5RUExRjA/view

Working Group III nomination form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9572rrs0uWJTVlhNk52cFotdlk/view

PAGES' nominations will be forwarded to Future Earth, who, in turn, will submit suitable and complete nominations to the IPCC before the submission deadline of 27 October.

2. New Past Global Changes Magazine

The latest issue of Past Global Changes Magazine, titled "Sustaining Earth’s Biodiversity", is now available to read and download: http://pastglobalchanges.org/products/pages-magazine/10551

Guest edited by PAGES Scientific Steering Committee members Lindsey Gillson and Peter Gell, this issue highlights how the study of long-term ecosystem change can provide critical insights into the resilience of ecosystems, the restoration of disturbance regimes and the prediction of future responses to changing climate and disturbance.

It also contains a mini section written by participants of PAGES 3rd Young Scientists Meeting in Spain in May 2017, plus over 20 workshop reports.

3. New working group and meeting support deadline 23 Oct

Proposals for new PAGES working groups are due 23 October, as well as applications for meeting/workshop support. Only current PAGES working groups can apply for meeting support in this round.
