Propose a new working group

Does your heart pound for paleoscience? Know others who feel the same?

Propose a new PAGES working group to address a scientific question in an internationally coordinated way. The application deadline is Monday 20 September 2021.

You must contact a member of the PAGES Scientific Steering Committee to discuss your plans at least two weeks before you submit the proposal (i.e. by 6 September). Applications received without SSC member notification will not be looked upon favorably.

PAGES' working groups (WGs) are temporary organizations that target specific aspects of PAGES' scientific agenda by running activities that result in synthesis products. WGs tackle broad questions that cannot be answered by a single research team, but require the integration of a wider, international, science community.

WGs benefit from their affiliation with PAGES in a number of direct and indirect ways. PAGES WGs receive enhanced visibility, connection with a diverse range of scientific expertise, priority consideration for financial support for workshops, validation in the eyes of the community, access to the international PAGES network, wide dissemination of news and results through print and online publications, and potential strengthening of outside funding proposals.

See the placement of current working groups in PAGES' science structure.

Given our associations with Future Earth and WCRP, WGs that contribute to or are co-organized by these programs or their components could also be considered.

Proposals are due Monday 20 September 2021, in time for consideration at our next EXCOM Meeting to be held online in October.

More information about our working groups, the guidelines and the application form are available here.

As mentioned, you must contact a member of the PAGES Scientific Steering Committee to discuss your proposal. You can also contact our Executive Director or Science Officer for information.
