When PAST meets the Future

This year, PAGES was pleased to be able to participate in Switzerland's Future Day.

What started out in 2001 as Switzerland’s ‘National Daughter’s Day’ has grown into Switzerland’s ‘Future Day’, with this year’s theme “A day as a woman in charge”. The idea is simple; enable children to catch a glimpse into an area of work that might seem atypical for them, and their futures. In doing so, they are offered a unique opportunity to explore new horizons and make new experiences with the aim of increasing their self-confidence as they begin to contemplate their futures.

PAGES scope of work certainly falls into the more atypical areas of work from the perspective of an 11/12-year old, so you can imagine we were positively surprised when two youngsters contacted us showing interest in visiting PAGES International Project Office for the day.

According to Ella, one of the most interesting and unexpected parts of the day was the experience of analyzing some emails that were to be sent out, and making sure there were no mistakes. The fun surprise of the day was being involved in the brainstorming process of a design for a poster. In Ella’s words, “I think that we were able to learn a lot thru this experience and I’m very happy that I came!” Similarly, Liana said that “I think that this experience was a definite worthwhile and a really good time to have in PAGES … I learnt that Emails are very important and editing them.”

Thank you to both Ella and Liana for choosing to visit us at PAGES and we wish you all the very best!
