Early Career Award Call for Nominations Open

PAGES is pleased to announce that the call for the biennial Early-Career Award (ECA) for excellence in collaborative scholarship, including research, communication, outreach, leadership, networking, community service, and international collaboration is open.

The PAGES ECA honors people in the early stages of their career for their engagement both within and beyond the scientific community, for example through (though not limited to) involvement in science coordination, outreach, networking, leadership activities, development of international collaborations and for excellence in research in support of PAGES' goals.

The first Award was publicly presented by PAGES at the 6th Open Science Meeting (OSM) held online in May 2022 to Alicja Bonk

The colleagues who nominated Alicja recognized her expertize in paleolimnology, her cross-disciplinary work to improve knowledge of past global changes in East-Central Europe, and her ability to establish new collaborations. The ECA Committee also took into consideration her involvement in the development of the PAGES Early-Career Network (ECN) and continued work within the group.

Alicja said it was an honour to receive the first PAGES ECA. "I am honestly surprised and touched by this decision," she said. "I promise to continue my efforts to improve my research and scientific outreach, and will be delighted to share my work with the PAGES community during the OSM."

The award is granted every two years. Nominations for the Award must be emailed to pages@pages.unibe.ch no later than 03 October of every even year (i.e. 2022, 2024, 2026 etc), using the subject title "PAGES Early-Career Award nomination".

Awardees will receive a certificate, an invitation to present at the OSM, and travel expenses to attend the OSM.

Nominations close 03 October 2022.
