2. PAGES' co-chair Hubertus Fischer signs off

After six years as the co-chair of Past Global Changes, Hubertus Fischer rotates off the Scientific Steering Committee at the end of 2017. We take this opportunity to thank him again for all the work he has done in promoting PAGES' goals. Read about Fischer's challenges, highlights and future plans here: http://pastglobalchanges.org/news/all-news-items/9-latest-news/1616-farewell-fischer-16

3. Floods Working Group metadata collection

PAGES' Floods Working Group would like to assemble a worldwide overview of the existing (published) flood records based on historical or natural archives. This metadata collection will serve to promote all these records to a broad community (through the FWG website and at the OSM). It will also serve as a first step for the database project of the FWG and as a basis for a review paper on flood reconstructions. Read more and find out how to submit your findings here: http://pastglobalchanges.org/ini/wg/floods/intro

4. New plan for data standards

PAGES is pleased to collaborate with LinkedEarth on a grassroots effort to improve paleo data standards and encourages your involvement. Working on the theory that many hands make light work, even 15 minutes of your time can help. All details: http://pastglobalchanges.org/news/all-news-items/9-latest-news/1585-paleo-data-stand-linkedearth

5. PAGES Integrative Activities update

Do you know about PAGES Integrative Activities (IAs)? http://pastglobalchanges.org/ini/int-act
Four key themes have been identified to bring PAGES working groups and their findings closer together.
1. Data Stewardship: http://pastglobalchanges.org/ini/int-act/data-stewardship
2. Warmer Worlds: http://pastglobalchanges.org/ini/int-act/warm-worlds
3. Thresholds: http://pastglobalchanges.org/ini/int-act/thresholds
4. Extremes: http://pastglobalchanges.org/ini/int-act/extremes
Some activities are currently more advanced than others, so please contact the leaders if you feel you can help contribute in this developmental phase.
