This newsletter features a cross-section of Japanese contributions to paleoscience. Thanks to recent technological progress, Japanese scientists now have access to many new sediment cores. Also, 400 years' worth of quantitatively reconstructed weather archives are providing insights into local weather and environmental conditions, which are feeding into current research projects. The newsletter also highlights recently held meetings, program news, and coming events.
